This tutorial covers how to launch and characterize Tektite-A. Characterization simply means finding how much drag the canards create, so that we can simulate the rocket in the future.
However, in the when you want to just launch Tektite-A (most likely with active control) follow the checklist below:
Pre-launch
- Enter in the weather information into the flight computer
- Tune the simulation for the weather (see Step 4)
Launch site
- Put in motor (but not igniter) and mass the rocket
- Enter the mass into the configuration
- Connect Tektite-A to the computer and calculate & save the configuration
- At the launch rod, flip Tektite-A upside down to arm it for launch
- Make sure to be careful while lowering it onto the rail so as to not exceed the 3g launch detection limit. ⚠️ If the light is not red on the flight computer, this has been exceeded and you must download the flight data off of Tektite-A before launching
